Planting Roots for a Greener Tomorrow at Gregory A. Hogan

On May 14, nearly 100 Grade 6 and 7 students from Gregory A. Hogan Catholic Elementary School took part in something special—planting 11 trees on their school grounds through the Tomorrow’s Greener Schools Today initiative, made possible by Lambton Public Health and the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority.

The project not only beautified the playground, but gave students the chance to make a lasting environmental contribution to their school.

“This was such an important opportunity for our entire school community,” said Alicia Da Silva, teacher. “These trees are more than just a beautification project—they’re a lasting legacy. It will be a blessing to watch them grow alongside our students in the years to come.”

The day brought energy, joy, and a sense of shared purpose to the school community.

“To watch our students work together, knowing they were doing something lasting and meaningful for their school—that was incredible,” said Derek Morrison, Principal. “This experience brought our school community together in such a positive way. It’s something we’ll remember for years to come.”

Thanks to the partnership with Lambton Public Health and St. Clair Conservation, students left more than footprints in the soil—they planted the beginning of a greener, brighter tomorrow.
