Blenheim Comes Together at St. Anne to Celebrate Diversity and Wellness

St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim opened its doors to families and community partners on May 7 for a joyful celebration of diversity and well-being during Catholic Education Week. The event, Celebrating All Stars, brought together students, families, and guests for an afternoon filled with connection, discovery, and fun.

“We’re so proud to bring the St. Anne and Blenheim communities together in this way,” said Principal Julie Knight. “It’s a celebration of everything Catholic Education Week represents—belonging, faith, and the beauty of learning and growing together.”

The school halls were transformed into a vibrant showcase of cultures, resources, and local programs. Families took part in a Passport Tour through interactive stations, enjoyed snacks from the Catholic School Advisory Council, and met with many of the community partners who play a key role in supporting students and families at St. Anne. Door prizes, free books, and activities made the afternoon feel like a true festival of inclusion.

Among the many groups represented were the Rose City Riot Para-Sports Club, the CK Public Health Unit, Buxton National Historic Site & Museum, Blenheim Fire Department, Chatham-Kent Public Library, Chatham-Kent Police Services, CK Children’s Services, and Supporting Kids in Positive Environment (SKIP).

“It was just a beautiful day,” one parent shared. “You could feel the joy in the building. Events like this help us all to make friends and feel like we’re really part of something special.”

For new families in the area, the event was especially meaningful.

“As our community continues to grow, we want to make sure every family feels welcomed and supported,” said Vice Principal Bev Vanier. “For students and families who are new to the area, this event is a chance to meet others, ask questions, and feel seen. It’s about building relationships and helping everyone feel at home.”

The celebration beautifully reflected this year’s Catholic Education Week theme, Pilgrims of Hope, by reminding everyone that they are valued, connected, and stronger when they come together.
