When Bernadette Orrange checked her email on May 30th, she was out with friends and had no idea she was about to receive some exciting news — she had just won the St. Clair Catholic 50/50 Raffle for Schools!

A lifelong Sarnia resident and former staff member with St. Clair Catholic, Bernadette spent more than 20 years as an Educational Assistant at St. Pat’s. She’s no stranger to the importance of school-based fundraising and the role it plays in supporting students.

“I bought a ticket because I’ve seen how far those extra dollars can go in schools,” says Bernadette. “I never expected to win — I just wanted to do my part to support the cause. When I saw the email come up, I couldn’t believe it!”

Bernadette says she plans to use some of her winnings for a family trip out West to visit her son — and looks forward to continuing to support future raffles.

“I’ll definitely be buying tickets again next time! One single ticket really can lead to a big win — not just for the person holding it, but for all the kids and classrooms that benefit from this kind of support.”
