Gregory A Hogan Transforms for Fête Française Celebration

During Catholic Education Week, Gregory A Hogan Catholic School came alive with the sights, sounds—and flavours—of French culture as students, staff, and families gathered for the school’s Fête Française.

The entire building was transformed into a bustling French fair, with students leading the way en français. A highlight of the evening was the French café, where students greeted guests, took reservations, and served delicious French delights like poutine and crêpes, in a space completely reimagined as a fine dining experience. From maître d’s to kitchen staff, students embraced their roles with joy and professionalism, offering a truly immersive experience.

Beyond the café, the school buzzed with energy. The gym was completely decorated with student artwork, while science fair displays lined the hallways, showcasing innovation, learning, and curiosity. The Fête was more than a celebration—it was a living demonstration of student excellence and the joy of learning in action.

In the front foyer, local artists and community partners hosted engaging booths, connecting with families while sharing their work. Among them was a familiar face: Nicole Lane, author of I’m a Book Dragon and Early Childhood Educator at Gregory A Hogan. Nicole welcomed students with her books—and her dragons—inviting them into stories with a warm smile and open heart.

“It’s such a joy to share I’m a Book Dragon with our students and their families,” said Lane. “Seeing familiar faces light up, and meeting new friends along the way, makes events like this so special.”

Vice Principal Janine Ross says the evening’s success is a direct reflection of the students’ leadership and collaboration.

“This event has been incredible—not only in what it offered to families, but in what it asked of our students,” said Mrs. Ross. “They worked together, communicated, led, and created something beautiful. It’s a perfect example of what’s possible when we have a shared vision and a commitment to bringing it to life.”

Fête Française was more than a school event—it was a community experience. A joyful, hands-on celebration of language, learning, and connection. What a remarkable way to mark Catholic Education Week at Gregory A Hogan!
