A new tradition has taken flight at St. John Fisher Catholic School—one focused on connection, kindness, and community.
Introduced in September, the Wellness/Spirit Club is a year-long initiative led by Ms. King, Grade 5/6 teacher, and Ms. Ducharme, Child and Youth Worker. All 326 students were welcomed into cross-grade “Flock Families” to help build relationships and foster a stronger sense of belonging.
Throughout the year, Flock Families met regularly for themed activities centered on kindness, social-emotional learning, and school spirit. Events included Kindness Week, Christmas celebrations, Bell Let’s Talk Day, and more—each one offering students meaningful ways to connect with peers beyond their own classrooms.
“The Wellness/Spirit Club was created to foster a stronger sense of community and belonging within our school,” said Ms. King. “By focusing on social-emotional learning, gratitude, and relationship building, the club empowers students to support one another and helps create a more inclusive and caring environment.”

The impact of the initiative has been felt across the school.
“Watching our students come together through the Wellness/Spirit Club has been one of the most rewarding parts of this school year,” said Principal Kelly Tremblay. “You can see it in the smiles, the friendships forming between students who might not otherwise have crossed paths, and the way they lift each other up. It’s created such a warm, welcoming energy in our school, and I’m so proud of the way our staff and students have embraced this opportunity to grow together.”
As the school year comes to a close, St. John Fisher students carry with them a stronger sense of connection—and a community spirit that will last well beyond June.
