Festival Printanier Brings Joyful Celebration of Art, Music, and Community to Christ the King

Christ the King Catholic School bloomed with colour, creativity, and community spirit during Catholic Education Week at its first-ever Festival Printanier. The full-day event brought students, families, and staff together for a joyful celebration of spring.

The day began with a school-wide prayer and a picnic lunch. Families gathered on blankets to enjoy sandwiches, veggies, cookies, and chips—prepared and served with care by members of the Parent Council. Raffle baskets added to the springtime excitement, with proceeds supporting outdoor learning and equipment.

In the afternoon, students enjoyed outdoor games and activities under sunny skies, laughing and playing together as a school community.

The school also transformed into an arts showcase. Parents were welcomed to a beautiful concert led by music teacher Mme Trinca, featuring performances from both the choir and orchestra. Throughout the library, student artwork was on display—everything from photography and greeting cards to charcoal sketches and mixed media pieces—highlighting the creativity of Christ the King’s young artists.

Grade 8 student Lucia Bennett, a winner of the school’s photography contest, reflected on how the experience shaped her view of the world. “Photography made me slow down and notice the little things,” said Lucia. “The photo I submitted was taken in my backyard—something I walk past every day. But this time, I really saw it. That’s what this club gave me.”

Violinist Aviana Griffin reflected on her musical journey and what it meant to perform alongside her classmates. “I’m so proud of how far I’ve come,” said Aviana. “Playing with my classmates today, and all year, was amazing, and I’m really excited to keep growing and join the performance band at UCC next year!”

Principal Angèle Monette spoke with pride about the impact of the event. “It was a truly magical day,” she said. “To hear the music, see the incredible art, and watch our students shine—it filled my heart. Days like this remind us why community matters. We don’t just teach subjects—we celebrate the whole child, and today, our students were nothing short of inspiring.”

The Festival Printanier was a joyful reminder of the talent, spirit, and connection that make Christ the King such a special place to learn and grow.
