Ursuline College’s Grade 10 hairstyling and aesthetics students brought beauty, kindness and connection to Meadow Park Long-Term Care on June 2, offering manicures to residents in celebration of Seniors Month.
The Pamper Day event was created entirely by the students, who greeted residents with warmth, conversation and care. Laughter filled the room as students polished nails and made new friends with the seniors they were delighted to serve.
“The residents were absolutely thrilled,” said MaryLynne Seliga, hairstyling and aesthetics teacher at UCC. “They felt so special, and many shared how meaningful it was to get out and enjoy something as simple—and powerful—as a manicure.”
Beyond perfecting their technique, students walked away with a deeper understanding of compassion and community service.
“It’s often the little things we do that make the biggest difference in someone’s day,” one student reflected.

Ms. Seliga added, “These experiences go beyond the classroom—they show students the real impact they can have in their community. It’s beautiful to watch connections form and kindness exchanged across generations.”
In a touching gesture of gratitude, Meadow Park residents sent a heartfelt card to the students following the event, thanking them for their time, care, and conversation.
This special day was not just about beauty—it was about building bridges, lifting spirits and learning the lifelong value of service.
