Georgia Pitblado has been selected to receive a $120,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship to study Engineering at Western University.
A graduate of Ursuline College Chatham (UCC) in Chatham, Pitblado will be entering the Engineering program this Fall. She was selected by the school’s nomination committee for her outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements. Georgia is UCC’s second Schulich Leader Scholarship recipient.
“I’m beyond grateful and humbled to be named a Schulich Leader,” says Pitblado. “This scholarship opens doors I never dreamed possible and gives me the chance to pursue engineering with the support and encouragement of an incredible national network. I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned so far and apply it to challenges that can help shape our future.”
“We are so proud of Georgia and all she has accomplished,” says Lisa Demers, Director of Education. “From her excellence in the classroom to her leadership as a student trustee last year, she represents the very best of Catholic education. Georgia’s success is an inspiration to students across St. Clair Catholic, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.”
“Georgia has been an extraordinary part of life at UCC,” says Principal Lisa Harnarine. “She has excelled academically while contributing immensely to student life through leadership, service, and passion. Whether it was organizing events, mentoring peers, or leading by example, Georgia brought energy and purpose to all she did. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with her and know she’ll go on to accomplish amazing things.”
“Schulich Leader Scholarships enable Canada’s top universities to attract and retain our exceptional STEM talent here at home, empowering them to become the innovators and entrepreneurs our country needs. When these scholars go on to drive prosperity and strengthen our economy, Canada must ensure the right economic conditions exist so they can build their promising futures here. Supporting their entrepreneurial ambition is essential for turning Canadian ingenuity into lasting national success,” says program founder Mr. Schulich.
