Heavenly Father,

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, we lift all those whose lives have been affected by its force. We pray for the families mourning loss, for the injured and displaced and for those facing the daunting task of rebuilding. May Your presence be a light in the darkness and a source of strength.

Lord comfort those who are feeling afraid and overwhelmed and draw close to all the helpers: the doctors, rescue teams and volunteers who are working with love and care. Guide leaders and responders who make critical decisions in helping communities recover and heal.

May kindness and support come from near and far and may hope grow stronger each day.

We also pray for those who may still be in harm’s way. For communities preparing for the storm, for families making difficult choices and for all who wait in uncertainty. Protect them, Lord. Surround them with Your peace and keep them safe from danger.

Holy Spirit, we pray that You would comfort those who grieve. Heal those who hurt. Renew the land and restore what has been lost. And above all, remind us that even in disaster, Your love never fails.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,
