Sauce the Boss Event Helps St. Elizabeth ‘Ketchup’ to Fundraising Goal

Students at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg squealed and howled with delight as 32 litres of ketchup was shot from squirt bottles at Principal Mike Giroux.  Dressed as a giant hot dog, Mr. Giroux made a real splash, as he was doused again and again with the sticky, red condiment, in the school’s ‘Sauce the Boss’ fundraising event.

The fundraiser is part of the school’s ambitious five-year $100,000 goal, to raise enough money to pay for new playground equipment, which is accessible for all students.  The Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) has a good head start towards its goal, with $10,000 already earmarked from the former Christmas in Muskoka event; and on-going support from the St. Clair District Catholic Education Foundation’s 50/50 fundraisers.

The CSAC also hopes to leverage grants and donations from municipal and provincial governments and civic and community organizations and service clubs.

“We know it’s an ambitious goal, but we have a Catholic school community of remarkable and gifted people, who are excited and energized in their commitment to providing playground equipment that’s safe and accessible,” says Mr. Giroux.  “And we look forward to having fun events like this one, as we move towards our fundraising target!”

The ‘Sauce the Boss’ event raised $575.
