At approximately 1:25 p.m. on Friday, January 9, a minor fire occurred in the food preparation area at St. John Fisher Catholic School in Forest. The school was immediately evacuated, and all students and staff safely relocated to the designated evacuation area.
The Lambton Shores Fire Department responded promptly, extinguished the fire, and conducted a thorough inspection of the building, including assessments of smoke and air quality. Students remained in cleared areas of the school under the close supervision of staff and were dismissed at their regular scheduled time.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently under investigation. School Board personnel will remain onsite to monitor for any further issues.
We sincerely thank the Lambton Shores Fire Department and the Ontario Provincial Police for their swift and diligent work in keeping our students and staff safe, which remains our top priority.
